The color challenge has been suspended due to lack of interest. We may reinstitute it at a latter date if enough people show interest.
What is a color challenge? A color challenge
is where we encourage you to try combining
colors you may not have considered before. A
lot of us get in a rut when it comes to the
colors we use. We want to get you out of that
rut. What we want you to do is design one
piece of jewelry (at least) using the colors
in the color challenge. It doesn't have to be
anything expensive or complicated. It can be
a pair of earrings, a bracelet, whatever. If
the colors we've chosen for this month's
challenge are colors you use often then what
we want you to do is change the findings to a
different finish. In other words, if the
colors are turquoise and brown and you
usually use silver findings with those colors
then try gold instead. You might be
pleasantly surprised. The goal is to inspire
you to move in new directions.
Once you've made your masterpiece we
encourage you to share it with us. For each challenge we'll post those that our readers chose to
share with us on the website along with your
name. If you wish to be anonymous please let
us know when you submit your photos. We'll
also have a random drawing for a $10 The
Beading Emporium gift certificate from
each challenge's participants. To participate in
the drawing please have your photos to us no
later than the last day of the following
month. In other words, if the challenge was
for June then have the photos in to us by the
last day of July. The winner will then be
announced in the following month's newsletter, so
using the above example the winner would be
announced in the August newsletter, as well
as by email. You do not have to use beads
from our site to participate, though it would
be nice if you did. :)
